Cloud Computing Advisory Council
The Cloud Computing Advisory Council (CCAC) is a body established at the behest of the Cloud Computing Executive Steering Committee to serve as a collaborative environment for senior IT experts from across the federal government. The Council is chaired by Peter Tseronis, Chief Technology Office for the Department of Energy (DOE).
CCAC members are nominated by their departmental CIOs to serve as representatives to the Federal Cloud Computing Initiative (FCCI) PMO and other agencies for best practices dissemination, consensus building for key FCCI initiatives, and sharing of planned or ongoing Cloud projects. Furthermore, CCAC members serve as the primary educator for their respective agencies and departments regarding the progress and status of the FCCI and cloud computing within government in general.
The CCAC's meetings are typically comprised of three main elements:
- A FCCI PMO Update
- A Working Session
- Best Practices from an Agency
The bulk of the meetings are focused on the Working Sessions. Each working session (or series of working sessions, depending upon the topic) will result in a recommendation to the PMO. The topics of the Working Sessions will be chosen by request from the Cloud Computing PMO or as feedback to a Cloud Computing Initiative document or deliverable. Example topics might include: Federal Cloud Computing Strategic Plan; Apps.gov requirements/functionality; SaaS Email agency requirements; etc.
